Control of osteoarthritis with plasma rich in platelet PRP or ACP.
WHAT IS PLATELET-RICH PLASMA?
A GLIMPSE INTO THE HEALING PROCESS.
In order to start the healing process of the harassed osteoarthritic joint, a complex sequence of events is required, with specific proteins in the blood playing a key role, which promotes effective healing. Many of the proteins involved in the healing process come from components of the blood called platelets. When the body senses damage, platelets are activated and aggregate in the area, releasing beneficial proteins called growth factors. This is the beginning of the healing process. ACP (Autologous Conditioned Plasma) therapy is an evolution of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy and is based on the comprehension of the above processes. ACP provides the body with a high aggregation of growth factors supporting and accelerating the body's attempt to heal the damage. ACP (Autologous Conditioned Plasma) ACP is a processed blood product derived from the separation of the patient's own plasma. The process is as follows: The blood is drawn into a special syringe patented by arthrex. After 5 minutes of centrifugation, platelets and beneficial growth factors are separated and isolated. The final product is then injected into the suffering joint. The whole procedure takes no more than 30 minutes.
